Robotic Welding
Ataco Steel Products Corporation can robotically weld a wide range of parts using our ABB 5-Axis robotic welder. One of the most useful features of our robot system is its seam tracking ability. With seam tracking, the robot takes current readings continuously through the weld, and adjusts its weld path accordingly to account for any part variations, which results in a good weld put where it belongs. Other robotic welding systems used today in industry are “flying blind”. Our robot power source also has mig-pulse welding capabilities that eliminates weld spatter, which is critical for parts with cosmetic surfaces.
Part positioning is another important consideration when welding, which is why we use an ABB twin station manipulator to present the part to be welded at the perfect angle. With the part manipulators, we can position our welds in the flat and horizontal positions, and we can avoid welding vertically down. Each of our twin stations measures 4 feet by 8 feet, which gives plenty of room for large parts, or several small parts at the same time.
MIG Welding
At Ataco Steel Products Corporation we take pride in our manual mig welding operation. We have 7 Miller mig welders ranging from 300 to 450 amps. We also have 3 Panasonic mig-pulse welders at 350 amps. All machines are cleaned, maintained, and calibrated annually.
All of our welding personnel are trained and tested in the classroom, and then must pass welding skills tests and become certified for the process they will be using by the American Welding Society. Each welder follows a weld procedure specification during production to ensure your product is welded to both your requirements and the American Welding Societies requirements. A Certified Welding Inspector is on staff to help maintain current jobs as well as to set up new jobs. We can follow your company written Weld Specification, or recommend an existing Weld Specification that suits your product, so you can be sure your product is welded correctly and to industry standards.
